International project "Tango Alakulo" combines art genres from music and dance to acting and design. Breaking the standard mold of concert and going far beyond usual stage entertainment, it has a fresh and rare view on how music and visuals collaborate.

Pipoka started by playing instrumental music in the spirit of the great Brazilian accordionist Sivuca (1930-2006).

The first album (Veli Kujala: Pipoka, Rockadillo Records) was released in 2004 and featured compositions by Gismonti, Pascoal and Sivuca alongside of a few original pieces.

Shortly after the release of the album Pipoka's quintet set-up changed to the unique trio formation, where the fretless bass, percussion and the vibraphone are replaced by the tuba. Nowadays the repertoire is composed almost exclusively by the members of Pipoka. The second album Veto was released in 2010.
